I don't like mondays

Escuché esta cancion en alguna de las radiofórmulas de clásicos, tipo M80, hace muchos años. Me llamó la atención la historia de la canción.

Está inspirada en un tiroteo de una chica de 16 años en San Diego, en enero de 1979. En el suceso murieron dos personas y fueron heridos varios niños que estaban jugando en la calle. A la pregunta de porqué lo había hecho, la respuesta fue un simple "I don't like mondays"...

La historia inspiró a Bod Geldof, líder en esa época de los Boomtown Rats, a escribir esta canción, incluida en el álbum The Fine Art of Surfacing (1979).
